THE HOME OF MODIFICATION AND MAINTENANCE FOR YOUR SMART

If you notice you are being frequently flashed by other drivers when your headlights are on, it could be that your headlight cluster is not correctly adjusted. However, if adjusting the beam angle does not help, or the adjuster reaches its limit, it could be that the cluster is not correctly secured to the car.

This is always a check worth doing when you have the front panels off the car.

Look at the top mounting screw of the light cluster. You may find that the cluster has been fixed in the wrong place (or the fixing has become loose).

Looking closer, you can see where the screw should be. The mark in the paint is highlighted with red dots:

Slacken the fixing screw with a T20 bit, pull the cluster forward and fasten in the correct position as follows:

Now get your beam angles correctly aligned again!
