As the city-coupe evolved into the fortwo, the light clusters changed subtly between the ranges and the 'marks'. This can make shopping for replacement parts difficult - especially if the seller doesn't know what they are selling either! The following is a very comprehensive list of all the clusters available:

Headlights

Note that for each cluster, there is a difference depending on which side of the road you drive. For cars that drive on the right, the dipped-beam angle should kick up to the left. For cars that drive on the other side, the beam should kick up to the right. If you get a wrong set, you can get beam correction stickers that fit on the front of the lense.

  • Pre-facelift "Almond" style headlights.

These were fitted to the original city-coupes (not cabrios) from mk1-5.

  • Facelift "Peanut" style headlights.

These were fitted to all cabrios, the later city-coupes (mk6) and all fortwos (mk7). Again, be careful to check that the beam angles are correct for your country.

The Crossblade also uses these "peanut" light clusters:

Rear Lights (Coupe)

Note that for each cluster, there is a fundamental difference depending on which side of the road you drive. Check carefully which side the fog light and reverse lights are located. For cars that drive on the left, the reverse light is on the left with the fog light on the right. For cars that drive on the right, they are the other way round. Check this before you buy!

  • Pre-facelift Pure rear clusters:

The original Pure light clusters are characterised by the orange indicator lense. These are complimented with the orange side repeaters. As the Pure was only supplied with a black tridion, these clusters come with a black surround. However, it is possible to swap with a pre-facelift silver surround, if desired. These were also fitted to early Pulse and Passion models (up to mk5).

  • Pre-facelift Pulse, Passion, Brabus rear clusters:

The differences between these clusters and the ones for the Pure are the indicator lenses. For these models, the lense is clear. These come with either black or silver surrounds depending on the colour of tridion. Note how the black surrounds are matched to the panels (Jack Black) and not the tridion (Tridion Black)!

  • Facelift Pure rear clusters:

The facelift models saw a redesign in light clusters with more 3-dimensional lenses. The Pure it still characterised with the orange indicator lenses. Again, as the Pure was only supplied in a black tridion, the cluster surrounds are only supplied new in black. However, these can be swapped with the facelift silver surrounds, if desired. Note, that these clusters will not fit into the pre-facelift surrounds as they are a completely different shape!

  • Facelift Pulse, Passion, Brabus rear clusters:

As stated before, these are different from the Pure clusters due to the clear indicator lenses. These come with either black or silver surrounds depending on the colour of tridion. Again, note how the black surrounds don't match the tridion!

Rear Lights (Cabrio)

The clusters for all cabrios are a completely different shape from the coupes and will not fit at all. In the same way as before, the Pure cabrio has an orange indicator lense. However, it is more common to find cabrios with the clear lense which is fitted to the Pulse, Passion and Brabus models.

The same cluster is fitted to the Crossblade.
