If you find that your auto button stops functioning, it could be because the pin has snapped off the back of the button.

Firstly remove the gear knob by pulling up sharply, do NOT press in the button, and mind your face!

Using a flat blade jeweller's screwdriver, prise out the button, it is clipped where the arrows indicate below. There is a spring behind the button so be careful not to lose it!

Once the button has been removed, drill a small pilot hole down the centre of the button stalk and screw in a small flat head screw.

You must ensure that the screw is square to the spring post.

Once the screw is in, and the glue has dried, push the button back into the knob housing.

When you look down the inside of the knob you should be able to see about 1mm of the screw.
